Rep. Lahood pushes for Trump to not commute Blagojevich's sentence
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) —
Congressman Darin LaHood is continuing his push to convince President Donald Trump to not commute former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's prison sentence.
LaHood sent a letter signed by other Republicans to the President, asking why Blagojevich shouldn't serve out his full sentence for corruption charges.
"Criminal elements that he engaged in should not be relieved by a commutation or a pardon. The letter is very strong; we lay out the reasons why. We hope the president listens. We just want to make sure he's aware and the last point I would make is the President is about draining the swamp. No one exemplifies the swamp more in Illinois than Rod Blagojevich," LaHood said.
