Alleged Kidnapping Hoax Cost Local Law Enforcement

The US Attorney for the Central District of Illinois has charged three people for concealing material related to an alleged kidnapping hoax that happened last month.

Of those being charged, the victim who was allegedly kidnapped.

Officials say Monica Ramirez is facing charges, along with Eduardo Guerrero Cortez, who was originally wanted as the kidnapper, and Jarbey Villalobos.

All three appeared in federal court earlier today and remain in custody of the US Marshals Service.

If convicted, the offense carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and fines up to $250,000.
