Four Dead After Semi Changes Lanes on I-55

Updated: Tuesday, July 22 2014, 11:20 PM CDT
Two Urbana women are dead after a wreck in northeast Illinois.

The multi-vehicle crash happened Monday afternoon on Interstate 55 near Channahon, which is about 50 miles southwest of Chicago.

The
Will County coroner confirms four people were killed in the accident,
including the two women from Urbana, 43-year-old Kimberly Britton and
Piper Britton. Three others were injured.

The wreck forced
authorities to shut down northbound lanes on the freeway. State police
say a speeding semi-trailer truck that abruptly changed lanes in a
construction road caused the chain reaction crash.

The driver,
51-year-old Francisco Espinal-Quiroz has been arrested with felony
log-book violations and traffic citations, including failure to reduce
speed.

He's in the Will County Adult Detention Facility and is due in bond court Tuesday.Four Dead After Semi Changes Lanes on I-55
