New Monticello High School

Updated: Monday, August 4 2014, 11:19 AM CDT

Plans for a new Monticello high school rests in the hands of voters.
It's an idea that the school board has been considering for some time.

After more than three years of discussion and research, the Monticello school board will hold a special meeting August 14th to vote on ballot questions to fund a  new high school and student center.

The Monticello superintendent says the estimated cost for a new high school is $35 million.
They plan to ask for an additional $5 million to remodel the current high school into a pre-K through 5th grade student learning center.
The superintendent says the community has been  part of various meetings and surveys to discuss this redevelopment and deserves to weigh in.
