4 Arrested in Springfield on Meth Charges During Child Welfare Check
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
On June 14, officers with the Springfield Police Department assisted the Department of Child and Family Services with a child welfare check at a residence in the 900 block of North 8th Street. While doing so, officers saw several items they recognized to be utilized in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Officers secured the residence and a search warrant was obtained. Members of the Springfield Police Department’s Pro-Active Crime Unit, along with the Illinois State Police Meth Response Team, conducted the search. An active meth lab was located in the basement and included approximately 400 grams of meth materials.
All four adult occupants of the residence were arrested and charged with aggravated participation in methamphetamine manufacturing, possession of methamphetamine and methamphetamine related child endangerment. The individuals were taken to the Sangamon County Jail.
Arrested were Archer R. Estes, age 44; William Childers, age 25; Trevor Morgan, age 25; and Rebecca Wolf, age 18.
