ACLU of Illinois on Trump Administration’s birth control mandate
CHICAGO (WRSP) —
The ACLU of Illinois is sounding off on the Trump Administration rescinding the Affordable Care Act mandate on birth control.
The ACLU of Illinois writing, "The Trump Administration today continues its all-out assault on women. The new rule announced permits a business owner to deny women across the nation and Illinois access to necessary medication - contraceptives - on the basis of the owner's religious beliefs. This is not religious liberty; this is the justification of discrimination on the basis of religion.” Read the full statement at the bottom of this article.
The National Women's Law Center says over 55 million U.S. women have birth control coverage with no out-of-pocket costs.
The center says that mandate saved women more than $1 billion on birth control pills in 2013.
