Aldermen approve 20-year study for CWLP’s power plant
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
On Tuesday, at Springfield’s City Council meeting, aldermen passed a study on CWLP power plant units that will cost $210,000.
The debate about whether CWLP should retire some old units at the power plant have been in the talks for years.
Now there’s a company called The Energy Authority who will do the study. TEA will determine the gas, power, and resources prices.
They will examine capacity and develop econometric load forecasts.
Now this study will find out the long-term plant issues and research plant life and replacement costs.
If it comes out that we should retire any units, the utilities capacity will lower and this may lead CWLP to go with other options like buying off the grid.
