Teen arrested in connection with school bomb threats
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
3:12 p.m. update:
A 14-year-old boy was arrested in connection with District 186 bomb threats. He was charged with four felony counts of disorderly conduct and transported to the Sangamon County Juvenile Detention Facility.
12:10 p.m. update:
Southeast High School was given the all clear just after noon.
11:30 a.m. update:
All clear given at Springfield High School and Lanphier High School. Classes will resume.
Students who were picked up do not have to return. Parents can call the school office after 11:45 if they wish to have their student dismissed.
10:23 a.m. update:
Franklin Middle School has now received the all clear to return to school. District 186 is asking parents to allow students to remain at evacuation sites at this time.
District 186 will hold a joint press briefing with Springfield Police Department at District 186 Administrative offices at noon today.
The Springfield Fire Chief confirms someone called Lanphier High School, Springfield High, Southeast High, and Franklin Middle School and said there was a bomb in the building and everyone needed to get out.
The Springfield Police Department is on the scene now searching the school. The fire department is also on the scene if needed.
The Springfield Police Department is working in conjunction with District 186 to fully investigate the below incidents. Investigators and canine units are onsite conducting thorough investigations and assisting with Districts 186’s response plan, ensuring the safety and security of the students and faculty. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

Statement on Emergency Response at District 186:
We are currently responding to bomb threats at Franklin Middle School, Lanphier High School, Southeast High School and Springfield High School. The threats began via phone calls at approximately 8:40 AM this morning.
Students and staff at each building are safe, but all schools are being evacuated to sites off campus out of an abundance of caution.
We are cooperating with police in searches at all schools.
Franklin Middle School is being evacuated to Southside Christian Church.
Southeast High School is being evacuated to Abundant Faith Church.
Lanphier High School is being evacuated to Caritas Hall.
Springfield High School is being evacuated to Westminster Presbyterian Church.
We are notifying parents via automated calls and text message.
