Community reacts to 4 arrests made in Clarence
CLARENCE, Ill. (WCCU) —
Tuesday morning the FBI arrested Michael Hari, Joe Morris, Michael McWhorter and Ellis Mack, all of Clarence.
"Two search warrants were executed in conjunction with the investigation, one involving the home or Hari's parents and the other a location maintained by Hari at 100 South Main Road in Clarence, Illinois,” U.S. Attorney James Childress said.
The four have a criminal complaint that charges them with possession of a machine gun.
Neighbors and the FBI said Hari lived on a property with no running water or electricity.
The property at 100 South Main Street was also owned by Hari.
Neighbors call it a "club house" for the four and said they feel safer Tuesday night they are behind bars after learning what was inside.
“In a small town like this, it's kind of shocking in a way because this has never happened so close by,” Clarence resident James Cappellano said. “So, it's unexpected."
Hari and Morris made initial court appearances Tuesday morning.
The other two are expected in court Wednesday.
