Crime Stoppers Increases Reward For Tips
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
Crime Stoppers of Sangamon and Menard counties is now increasing the maximum awards for tips.
The largest reward leading to an arrest is now $2,500 instead of $1,000.
Crime Stoppers says an increase in gun violence is one of the factors that prompted the change.
They also say the reward will help police solve more serious crimes.
"It's our hope that the increased reward will increase the knowledge of our program, the Crime Stoppers program itself, and also offer a greater likelihood that they will come forward with information," says Crime Stoppers Coordinator, Officer Mike Badger.
If you have a tip for Crime Stoppers you can remain anonymous.
The amount of the reward will vary based on the type of crime.
