Danville getting its first roundabout
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCCU) —
Danville is getting its first roundabout at the corner of English and Jackson Streets.
However, the intersection does not comply with a federal standard that requires streets to line up after an intersection.
Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer said the city looked at studies showing roundabouts as a safer alternative for pedestrians and drivers.
The city will receive $600,000 in federal funds for the project, however, the City of Danville will have to come up with another $150,000.
Construction is expected to begin in May.
