Ex-treasurer of Ziegler gets 48 months in prison for stealing over $300K
BENTON, Ill. (AP) —
The former treasurer in southern Illinois will serve 48 months in prison after embezzling more than $300,000 from the city over a four-year period.
Ryan Thorpe once worked for the city of Ziegler, Ill. between Jan. 2013 to August 2017.
The theft was uncovered by an audit.
Ziegler is about three hours south of Springfield.
Thorpe was indicted by a federal grand jury on wire fraud and embezzlement.
