Family of Danville teen found murdered in vehicle seeking answers
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCCU) —
A Danville mother is seeking answers now that her newborn is without a father after he was found shot and killed. Danville police found 18-year-old Jeremiaha Deneal in a running vehicle Thursday morning and said he was murdered. The vehicle was parked on 1000 block of Glenwood Drive.
"I’m just really tired of the gun violence, he didn't deserve this,” Deneal’s cousin, Latrice Greenwood said. "My mother she called me on the phone and she said 'they found Jeremiaha with a gunshot to his head, and I thought she was literally lying to me.”
Deneal’s death happened just two days after celebrating the birth of his son.
“He was so happy, he held my hand through everything,” Deneal’s girlfriend Tori Warren said. “He was like my best friend he always cared about everybody else and put everybody else first.”
The family said the 18-year-old had goals he wanted to accomplish.
"He wanted to go to college and definitely finish college,” Greenwood said. "That's the main thing he wanted to do was finish his school.”
Warren said Deneal had a family he wanted to raise.
"He was working so he can help provide for me and the baby,” Warren said. “He even put his education aside and was working third shifts.”
The family said they just want to know why.
"If you think you heard something, seen something -- the smallest information will truly help right now,” Greenwood said. “just please I just want justice for him, he lived by justice and we want justice for him.”
