Flu Season Still Hitting Illinois Residents Hard
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCCU) —
Illinois is seeing more flu cases this year, compared to last year.
The Illinois Department of Public Health's update from two weeks ago shows that the flu is widespread across the state with 93 outbreaks for this season.
Health officials say, even though we are closing in on spring, flu season is still here and you need to take precaution.
"We see people when it's getting nicer out, people gather," Sarah De Land, nurse practitioner specialist, said. "So you're going out to a party, you're getting out of the house and you're around people that could be infected with the flu."
Dr. Sarah De Land adds, you should not get a flu vaccination as we are nearing the end of the flu season and it would not be effective.
