Governor Rauner faces challenge from conservative representative
CHICAGO (AP) —
More conservative lawmakers are backing Representative Jeanne Ives in her effort to challenge Governor Bruce Rauner in the gubernatorial primary.
Governor Rauner infuriated many far-right members of his party after signing a bill that expanded taxpayer-subsidized abortions.
Representative Ives has been raising money and circulating petitions to get on the March ballot and hopes to appeal to the conservative base.
Rauner's campaign says he's focused on fighting for Illinois' future.
