Local business going global with help from government
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
Local businesses are getting help expanding outside the state.
ACE Sign Company is a Springfield business receiving funds through a program called I Step.
The program receives federal funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration and disperses it to businesses across Illinois.
The purpose of the program is for the state to help small businesses with trade and export activities.
For ACE Signs, it's helping them in the process of exporting their products globally to Australia, Paris, Germany and more.
"Seeing them actually proactively move in,” ACE Sign Company Accounting Manager Brian Moulton said, “offer programs, offer tangible steps that these businesses can take.
“Offer financial assistance in some regards to make sure that the businesses can take full advantage of it."
Just this year, the U.S. Small Business Administration awarded $890,000 to Illinois.
ACE Sign Company is receiving just under $5,000.
