Local organization hosting benefit for homeless veterans
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
Happening this Friday, an event is scheduled to benefit homeless veterans around central Illinois.
Spring Street Veterans Renaissance is a home that houses homeless veterans and hopes to help get them back on their feet.
The Band of Brothers Motorcycle Club will be hosting a barbeque fundraiser for veterans at the home.
They hope to bring awareness to the house and to help with the veterans.
“Honoring our veterans is always important,” said President of the Sierra Company Band of Brothers, Aaron Merreighn. “They put their life on the line to protect our way of life. We want the entire community and anybody that sees this broadcasting to come out say 'hi' to the veterans.”
The event starts at 12 p.m. at Spring Street Veterans Renaissance located on 209 Scarrit Street, food will be served at 1 p.m.
