Thursday night, the Macon County Board and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation agreed on a resolution to pay for all deputies get their own take home squad car.

They say they hope this multi-million-dollar plan will allow them to purchase between 21-23 new vehicles.

Officials shared this will eliminate the cost of replacing vehicles every year because of the mileage

"By doing this we'll hopefully eliminate some of the wear and tear on the vehicles also with each individual officer having their own vehicle it comes with a sense of pride. Ill keep my vehicle a little more clean because I care about it," said Sgt. Scott Flannery with the Macon County Sheriff's Department.

The sheriff's department hopes to have all cars in service by march or may of this year.
