Macon County Woman Arrested for Alleged Voter Fraud
MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WRSP) —
The person arrested is 31-year-old Michelle Mayes. We're told she was an Effingham resident when she voted early in October. She then moved to Macon County, registered and voted again.
A woman in Macon County was arrested on Tuesday for alleged voter fraud.
Lt. Brown with the Macon County Sheriff's Department says they received reports the woman voted twice in the 2016 General Election.
According to records, the woman voted early in Effingham County in October and voted again in November in Macon County.
The woman was taken to the Macon County Jail and later released with a notice to appear in court.
We're told it is a Class 3 felony to vote more than once in Illinois.
