NICU families reunite with St. John caretakers
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
The HSHS St. John's Hospital hosting a reunion for families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Patients and family memers were invited to celebrate the progress of the NICU children.
There was also a pop up for NICU donations.
St. John's says, many doctors and nurses are there for families during their most difficult times, so they wanted to be sure to have an uplifting event, with everyone together again.
"It's important really for the families to reconnect with the caregivers that you know created miracles in their lives, and you know it just really helps in that healing process, developing process, and I mean there are some real miracle stories here, so it's just nice to come back and meet the team that made that happen," said Vernessa Glover with St. John's Hospital.
About 600 people were there Sunday.
St. John's hospital takes care of nearly 2000 babies a year, 6000 who are premature or seriously ill.
