North Mac learns how to handle bullying through social media
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
Bullying, it's a growing problem with children of all ages.
Between text messaging and social media, it's something that so many people deal with.
Thursday, Fox Illinois’ Stacey Skrysak teamed up with St. John's Hospital to talk about bullying with students at North Mac Elementary and Intermediate Schools.
Stacey shared her story of facing criticism and bullying in her profession and talked about why it's important to alert an adult if they become victims.
"It's really important to start instilling it at an early age,’ said Megan Williams with HSHS St. John’s Hospital. “That it's important to be nice, but also empowering the kids so they feel good enough about themselves to stand up to that bully and not take it so personally."
As for parents, the best thing you can do is stay involved with your children and keep an eye on their online activity, since that's where a lot of bullying takes place.
