One Injured After Multiple Shots Fired on Jackson Street
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
Springfield police are investigating a shooting that took place Thursday evening.
Officers responded to call of multiple shots fired in the 2000 block of East Jackson Street around 9:30 p.m.
Around the time officers arrived, they were told a 27-year-old Springfield man had arrived at HSHS St. John’s Hospital with gunshot wound to both upper legs.
The victim told police he was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 2000 block of East Jackson when an individual approached the vehicle on a bicycle. Words were exchanged and when the victim got out of the vehicle, the suspect shot him twice. The suspect then fled on the bicycle and the victim was taken to HSHS St. John’s by an acquaintance. The victim would not identify the suspect, nor would he provide a physical description. He was treated for what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect is believed to be a black male, bald, who was last seen riding a bicycle.
