PIKE house brings holiday cheer to Champaign students
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCCU) —
Students at Garden Hills Elementary received some surprise gifts today from U of I's Pi Kappa Alpha house.
The fraternity collected more than $10,000 worth of gifts. This is the 14th year the fraternity has come to the school to donate gifts during the holidays.
"It’s definitely one of the most cheerful days of the year,” senior Shawn Lemme said. “It's very nice putting smiles on all the kids faces here with all the new presents and it's something we all really enjoy doing each year."
Each gift wrapped and addressed to a student.
"Well they came to school and they came and gave us presents,” second-grader Joyce Mirelez said. "I got slime and some scissors."
Around 80 fraternity members passed out presents to about 430 students.
