Police Investigating Fatal Stabbing On South 16th Street
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
Springfield police tell Fox Illinois two male juveniles were involved in an altercation on south 16th at about 1 p.m. Monday.
Police found a 17-year-old boy who had been stabbed in the chest lying on the ground outside in the 1800 block of south 16th Street.
The victim was taken to St. John's Hospital, but died from that injury.
Police have arrested the person they believe is responsible for the homicide.
They say it was another 17-year-old boy and is possibly the cousin of the victim.
The suspect was arrested a few blocks away shortly after police found the victim.
Police have taken him in for questioning.
SPD is still looking for the killer in a shooting homicide from Friday on Springfield’s north side.
