Police say deadly Springfield shooting appears accidental
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
Springfield police are investigating a deadly shooting that took place Monday night.
It's an active investigation, but the shooting appears to be accidental, police said.
They found a 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his forehead.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at about 11 p.m. in the 6300 block of Cherylwood.
Officer Michael Badger says the department offers their condolences to the man's family.
"It's a tragedy when a situation like that occurs," Badger said. "We're hoping the investigation will bring some peace to the family as we determine exactly what happened."
