Sangamon County Official Shows Concern Following State of State Speech
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) —
Governor Bruce Rauner's State of the State address is causing some concern among Sangamon County officials.
Sangamon County Administrator Brian McFadden read the speech and says he's worried about a property tax freeze.
McFadden says property taxes generate $30 million for the area and more than half of the money goes towards schools.
“The issue for us is, OK if you freeze our largest revenue source, ya know, give us some tools on how we can either achieve more efficiency or save money on the other side," said McFadden.
He says the county has been preparing for a freeze on property taxes.
