Senate President offers advice to Rauner ahead of Wednesday's budget address
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
Democratic leadership is urging the Governor to propose a balanced budget Wednesday during his annual budget address.
Senate President John Cullerton, D-Chicago, said he doesn't know how Governor Bruce Rauner’s budget could be balanced if it includes a tax cut.
Cullerton offered some advice to the Republican Governor Tuesday.
"My advice to him is why don't you do the best budget you've ever done, a balanced one, and then run on it," Cullerton said. "And really, don't have phony holes in it and be honest with people and maybe you won't be so unpopular."
Rauner is scheduled to deliver his budget address February 14 at noon.
