Severe storms coming to Central Illinois
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
Severe storms are a threat for Central Illinois this evening.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect throughout central Illinois through 10 pm Monday night.
Storms are firing quickly in a very muggy and warm environment.
Storms Monday evening are capable of producing large hail up to the size of quarters and strong damaging wind gusts around 60 mph.
The threat of severe storms will wind down by 10 pm, but more storms could redevelop through the overnight hours and also on Tuesday although these showers and storms are expected to stay below severe limits.
