SHG Alumni & Friends volleyball tournament brings in a large crowd
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
Sacred Heart-Griffin alumni and current students showed their black and gold pride on Sunday at a volleyball tournament.
This was the 1st Annual Alumni and Friends Volleyball Tournament.
The goal of the tournament was to have alumni students meet up with old friends, on their old stomping grounds while also raising money for the school.
Organizers said events like this are just the beginning.
"We're going to come up with some kind of platform for young alumni,” Organizer Ryan Hillestad said, “and hopefully start people at a lower level of giving.”
“Because our ultimate goal is to benefit the high school, get us together and ultimately raise some money for a great cause."
It cost $10 to play.
The tournament was packed and they even had a team of current high school students.
Last year some S.H.G. alumni hosted a cooking class to raise money.
