Trial dates proposed for suspect in Yingying Zhang disappearance
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WICS,WCCU) —
Thursday, Brendt Christensen's lawyers proposed a June 2019 start date for the trial.
The prosecution has officially proposed a date for the trial of the man accused of kidnapping and killing University of Illinois scholar Yingying Zhang.
Under the proposal, jury selection for Brendt Christensen's trial would begin October 10 and the trial on the 16.
The trial was set to begin later this month but was pushed back after the government announced its plan to seek the death penalty.
The new trial date will be set before a judge on Monday.
