Urbana man shot during home invasion, suspect at large
URBANA, Ill. (WCCU) —
Urbana police officers are asking for the public’s help to find the person responsible for home invasion and shooting that took place Friday morning.
Police responded to a report of a shooting around 2:30 a.m. Friday in the 1300 block of West Bradley.
When officers arrived on scene they found a resident of the home, a 34-year-old man, with a gunshot wound to the hand.
According to the report, the suspect entered the resident’s home through a window and the victim went to investigate after hearing a noise.
That’s when the victim was confronted by the suspect, who immediately fired a shot at him that struck him in the hand.
The victim and suspect fought inside the home, during which several more shots were fired.
The suspect then exited the home and the victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as a black male, in his late 20’s, approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 250 pounds, full beard approximately 1 inch in length, black hair in short braids about 1 inch in length, wearing white jeans, a blue shirt, and armed with a black handgun.
The investigation on this incident is ongoing.
