Urbana Park District looking for lifeguards
URBANA, Ill. (WCCU) —
Urbana Park District said they are looking for lifeguards to work this summer at their various water parks.
Currently, they said they are stretched a little thin with workers, saying it could be due to a national trend of less teens working part-time jobs this summer.
A spokesman for the parks said working as a lifeguard can be a great way to gain leadership skills and character.
“We are always looking for lifeguards,” said Mark Schultz, Urbana Park District spokesman. “Right now, Urbana Park District has about 70 lifeguards working and we need about 100., but we always have a full complement of lifeguards on hand for when the public is out using our pools."
Currently the park district is looking for applicants. The next training class is June 25.
