Urbana School District to Offer Free Summer Meals
URBANA, Ill. (WCCU) —
School may be out soon, but students can still enjoy free nutritious meals. Urbana School District 116 will be offering free breakfast and lunch from Monday through Thursday starting June 5.
The meals will be offered at four different schools in the district including Urbana High School and Urbana Middle School.
The staff said free breakfast and lunch is offered to all children 18 years old and younger.
"We feed kids all school year long so I think when summer time comes and kids are on their own [there are] kids that maybe don't have access to the food they get in the school year," Chief Financial Officer Carol Baker said. "So I think it's really important that we offer this."
The summer meals will run through July 5. For more information about the program, click here.
