Walking to end domestic abuse
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
A benefit in honor of a local woman killed by an act of domestic violence.
About 40 people gathered at Southwind Park to support the cause, raising money for Springfield's Sojourn Shelter.
People also brought items to donate like paper towels, clothes and food.
The victim's mother says domestic violence is never okay.
"She was the best kind of human being, the world lost a good human being, and I will never let her die, never," said Zee Gibbings.
The victim's murderer is serving 30 years in prison.
