World War II plane catches fire at former Chanute Air Force Base
RANTOUL, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) —
An old World War II plane caught fire at the former Chanute Air Force Base Tuesday in Rantoul, Ill.
The owner of the company that was dismantling the plane said the fire was likely caused by highly flammable metals from the inside.
When a worker cut into the plane, the metals caught fire.
No word yet on how extensive the damage was to the plane.
