Dick Van Dyke To Visit Hometown Of Danville
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCCU) —
90-year-old actor and singer Dick Van Dyke said he will soon visit his home town of Danville.
Van Dyke said he is making his way into the city on June 24.
Now the city is halfway through preparations for Van Dyke's welcome home celebration.
Mayor Scott Eisenhauer said the star will visit his childhood home located at 928 Hazel Street in Danville. The visit is in conjunction with Van Dyke's fundraiser launch that will help restore the home as well as provide scholarships to the city's youth who hope to pursue a career in the entertainment field.
"You know if I said I was excited, that would be an understatement," Mayor Eisenhauer said. "I can't wait for Mr. Van Dyke to arrive into his hometown and I know the community feels the same way."
On June 24, the city will hold two evening celebratory events.
The first is a show choir concert at Danville High School. Tickets for the concert will be $5.
That event is followed by a private reception at the Harrison Park Clubhouse, tickets are $100. All ticket sales will have to be done in person.
The city will announce the locations of ticket sales next week.
