Events Planned For Dick Van Dyke's Danville Visit This Week
DANVILLE, Ill. (WCCU) —
Only a few more days until Dick Van Dyke will be in his hometown of Danville.
Van Dyke will arrive Thursday around 11 a.m. the famous handcrafted Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car.
He will pull into the Danville High School for a press conference.
On Friday, the car will be on display at Danville's Public Library from 11 a.m. 1 p.m., and again at Danville High School from 4 p.m. 6 p.m.
Next, a Welcome Home Concert will be held at Danville High School from 6 p.m. 7 p.m.
It will be followed by a private reception at 7:30 p.m. the Harrison Club Parkhouse.
Tickets for the private reception have sold out.
Mayor Scott Eisenhauer said Van Dyke will also visit his childhood home sometime on Thursday, but it has not been decided whether or not this will be open to the public.
Van Dyke will leave town again for a trip to Chicago on Saturday.
