Maroa-Forsyth offering athletic training program for students
MAROA-FORSYTH, Ill. (WICS) —
CEFCU's Friday Night Rivals this week features Williamsville hosting Maroa-Forsyth.
Before the Trojans of Maroa-Forsyth take the field, they're getting some help from student personal trainers.
It's a program that isn't offered for many high school students across the state, but in Maroa, they don't turn anyone away that has an interest in going into personal training or sports medicine.
"It's something fun to do after school and it's really interesting to me,” said Sam Johnston, a senior at Maroa-Forsyth. “Specifically, because I already was going through physical therapy and stuff and this is something that can lead you down that path. "
The students usually take care of the simple things like stretching out the athletes as well as taping up their wrists and ankles before hitting the field for each practice or game while being supervised by the school's athletic trainer.
