April Weather Guarantee
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WRSP) —
Our featured charity this month is the Montessori Children's House of Springfield, who offer a unique way of schooling for young kids.
The education center works with children ages 3 to 12. Kids there learn to use their senses through discovery to promote a positive learning experience. Classes are inside and outdoors, and are all immersive and hands-on, allowing kids to engage and focus on the learning experience. A curriculum that is different than what is standard of a public school.
"It's based on the concept called Constructivist Education, so the more things they're doing, the way they're doing them builds on things that are learned before the learning becomes more abstract," says Montessori Children's House Director Sue Harris.
The money our Storm Team raised during the month of April will go towards more school supplies, especially in the subject of elementary grade science.
