Springfield, IL — There are a lot of factors at play impacting the severity of this year’s flu season. They include:
Lower levels of immunity
Relaxation of COVID-19 mitigation measures
Colder weather pushing more people indoors
More travel, especially as we approach the holidays
Americans not getting flu immunizations
According to the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, 69% of Americans agree that
getting the annual flu vaccination is the best preventive measure against flu-related deaths and
hospitalizations, yet only 49% of American adults plan to get a flu vaccine. We have the power
to diminish our chances of contracting the flu and preventing its spread by doing two things:
Wear a mask
Get vaccinated
