6 injured in crash at Dirksen Parkway and Cook Street
Six people suffered minor injuries after a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Dirksen Parkway and Cook Street in Springfield Tuesday around 2 p.m.
We're told a church bus in a funeral procession was one of the vehicles involved. Four of the eight people on the bus were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the second car had to be extricated from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital. The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries.
A sergeant with the Springfield Police Department tells us the person driving the car, 52-year-old Karen Shaw of Springfield, was cited for violating the funeral procession statutory requirement.
Police tell us the funeral procession was already in the intersection when the light turned red. Shaw’s light turned green and she went, which is when then the crash happened.
