American Inn owners open to selling but at a price
Owners of the American Inn in Danville want to know how much the land is worth before they agree to sell their property to the city.
The city wants to tear down the inn as part of the East Main Street Corridor Project.
If no deal is reached, city council may discuss using eminent domain to acquire the property at their meeting later this month.
The manager at the American Inn says the owners want a surveyor to come in first.
"The Patels have five properties right here and one has an underground tunnel that comes from all the way downtown to right across the street from the hotel,” Kenny Johnson said. “I mean this is a historic situation."
The inn has 37 rooms and seven people currently live there full-time.
