Annual Franciscan Nativity Festival begins Friday
Friday was the kickoff of the 11th Annual Franciscan Nativity Festival at the Chiara Center.
The festival has over 120 nativity sets which includes everything from Legos, blankets, paintings, hand carvings, and more.
Residents around central Illinois were asked to distribute their nativity sets for the festival.
“It's a time when we don't see as many nativities in public spaces and it's a key part of our spirituality, you know the birth of Jesus, and it's one story being told in 120 different ways,” Chiara Center program director Dan Frachey said.
The free event is open to the public Saturday and Sunday from 12-4p.m.
