The U.S. Army Corps wants your input on the city of Springfield’s plan for a second lake.

The city is seeking a permit to build Hunter Lake and the Army Corps said the project's purpose and need have changed.

In addition to a secondary water source, it would also be used for water activities.

They want your opinion of the plan and any alternatives you might have for where water activities could also be located in Springfield

"What alternatives to Hunter Lake would there be for aquatic recreation?” Division chief Ward Lenz said, Army Corps of Engineers. “Are there other places where a lake could be constructed, for example, or are there other areas where you could meet that demand for aquatic recreation."

The Army Corps manage all waterways’ and Lenz says right now a proposal would place Hunter Lake just south of Springfield, by placing a dam on horse creek.
