Carle and Christie Clinic break ground on new surgical center
Wednesday Carle Foundation Hospital and Christie Clinic broke ground on a new surgical center.
The new center will be located off of Curtis Road by Staley.
Both Carle and Christie Clinic will also have doctor's office at the site and Carle's administration building will also be located there.
The surgical center will be used for outpatient procedures.
"So you can actually get a hip replacement, a knee replacement and go home the same day,” Christie Clinic CEO Kenny Bilger said. “So those are things that used to require a two to three day hospital stay. When you have those they'll now be done on an outpatient basis where you're here for 6 or seven hours, then you go home the same day."
The project will cost about $95 million and is expected to open in 2019.
