Children face challenges while transitioning to middle school
Thousands of children in Illinois are transitioning from grade school to middle school.
Middle school is an age where you’re no longer a child, but not yet an adult. They’re facing new responsibilities, raging hormones, body changes, peer pressure, the list goes on and on.
These factors can be stressful, but there are things parents can do to prepare their children.
This includes talking to your child about their fears and concerns, as well as teaching them how to handle new responsibilities.
“We’re just probably introducing more responsibilities to her,” said Jami Jamieson, a mom of a future middle schooler.
School officials said it’s important for parents to be involved in their child’s life and to make sure the child feels comfortable talking to them.
