CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCCU) — The state is projected to lose over 400 court reporters in the next decade.
To help relieve this shortage, court reporters are hosting informational sessions at the Champaign Public Library.
The sessions are free to attend and are intended to give individuals an overview of the job requirements and preparations for success in the court reporting program.
"A lot of people don't even know it's a viable profession anymore because it's kind of an outdated idea of what a court reporter does. So, the idea that it's a clerical-type position is not true," Tammy Bumgarner said.
