Crews respond to Decatur house fire Thursday
A residential fire occurred in Decatur Thursday at 239 North East Avenue.
The Decatur Fire Department responded to the call at 6:01 a.m.
The two-story house that caught fire was vacant, with flames reported throughout the first floor with an extension to the second floor.
Fire crews initiated an aggressive interior fire attach, extinguishing the main fire quickly.
An additional ladder truck was utilized to ventilate the roof for fire extending into the attic.
The damage estimate for the structure is $15,000.
During the fire, three medical alarms responded, leaving no units available in the city. Also at the scene were four engines, two ladder trucks and a total of 19 fire personnel and four chief officers.
