Cumberland County man arrested for multiple burglaries
CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCCU/WICS) —
On Friday, 8/10/18, at approximately 11:33 a.m. officers from the Charleston Police Department responded to the Charleston Walmart regarding a theft report. The following day, Saturday, 8/11/18 at 7:54 p.m. officers responded to the Verizon Wireless store located at 15 W Lincoln Ave. regarding a theft report. The investigation into both of these incidents resulted in the arrest of the suspect, Dustin R. Drum, 28 of Neoga.
On Friday, 8/10/18 Drum was observed on video surveillance entering Walmart and removing two display laptops and a display iPad totaling nearly $2000.00 from the electronics department before leaving the store. On Saturday, 8/11/18, Drum was observed on surveillance at the Verizon store removing an iPhone 8 from the display counter before leaving the store.
Drum, who was arrested in Effingham, Illinois on 8/13/18 for retail theft, was placed under arrest by Charleston officers and extradited back to Coles County where he was placed in the Coles County Jail on multiple counts of Burglary.
