Man arrested for murder after overnight Decatur stabbing

    As of 12:30 p.m. Friday, Decatur Police Department arrested Ray James, 48, of Decatur.

    James was taken to the Macon County Jail and is facing a charge of 1st degree murder.

    Police conducted numerous interviews of witnesses, physical evidence was collected and a search warrant was served prior to the arrest.

    The stabbing victim was identified Friday by the Macon County Coroner as 24-year-old Cody Drew, of Decatur.

    We're told Drew died as result of multiple stab wounds inflicted on him in the 100 block of South Oakland Street.

    Drew died just after midnight at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

    The investigation is still ongoing.


    Decatur Police are investigating a homicide.

    Officers were called to the corner of S. Oakland and W. Main around 11:30 Thursday night.

    There, they found a 24-year-old Decatur man stabbed.

    He was taken to the hospital.

    A short time later, he was pronounced dead.

    The name of the victim has not been released.

    The investigation is still on going.
